In May 2012, Garena introduced in May 2012 the Garena Premier League (GPL) that is a 6-month professional league for online gamers with more than 100 games scheduled that will be held. The GPL's inaugural season will be an internet-based League of Legends tournament with six professional teams. These teams represent top players from respective countries. GPL games are filmed and streamed on the internet with commentary. These games are made available to fans on the official website. Garena Premier League 2013, which started on January 4, 2013, will include two teams that are each coming from Taiwan and Vietnam. It brings the number of teams up to eight. These teams include AHQ, Saigon Fantastic Five, Bangkok Titans, Kuala Lumpur Hunters, Manila Eagles, Saigon Jokers, Taipei Assassins and Singapore Sentinels. It is the Garena E-Sports Arena, an esports facility began operations in November of 2014, in the Neihu District of Taipei. The first studio was opened in the month of November 2014, which coincided with the start of the League of Legends Masters Series. It is the premier LoL Taiwanese as well as Hong Kongese and Macau LoL League that is a spin-off of the GPL. Garena began the Iron Solari League - a League of Legends competition for women from the Philippines on January 1, 2015. It is played in the second week of every month. The event is designed to encourage the participation of under-represented groups and is open for all women who identify such. Garena is a non-profit organization that organizes events offline for people who are looking to connect and meet. Garena also organizes the Garena carnival that occurs every year in Singapore as well as Malaysia.
